To fulfill our social responsibilities and seek sustainability, Hanwha Chemical established protection of the environment and health as our key management principle. In 1991, we declared our comprehensive safety, health and environment policy known as ECO YHES as the first corporation in Korea to do so and has since been promoting its implementation.

Safety and Health Management System
Hanwha Chemical obtained the health and safety management system (OHSAS 18001) certificates in acknowledgement for its preventive activities, such as organizing subcommittees for each business area and implementing an effective system to create and maintain a pleasant and safe work environment. We are focused on spreading our health and safety management system and culture across the entire organization. In addition, we have implemented the "Ten Golden Safety Rules" and a "three-strike out" system for employees or business partners who have failed to comply with the rules, in order to make our restrictive actions more rigorous.

Environmental Management System
Hanwha Chemical obtained environmental management system (ISO-14001) certification by initiatively participating in an international environmental management pilot project implemented for the first time in Korea in 1995. In addition, through continuous environmental improvement and eco-friendly management based on PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action), Hanwha Chemical maintains its status as a "green company" designated by the Korean Ministry of Environment.

Responding to Climate Change
Our response to climate change and energy-saving activities
We recognize climate change as an opportunity for growth rather than a crisis, and engage in activities to reduce greenhouse gas and energy use in a sustainable manner. With the enforcement of emiss-ions trading system, we calculate and disclose our emissions and energy use as per government standard.
Energy-saving Activities
Hanwha Chemical has been carrying out 190 energy-saving activities since 2013 through the participation in greenhouse gas reduction programs, and since 2009, has been a member of the CDP selected as the exemplary company in Carbon Management in 2011 and 2014.
